Thanks for signing up to the Backup Exec FAQ newsletter.

It has only been 2 weeks since the last newsletter, but this newsletter celebrates a double birthday!

The BackupExecFAQ site was created on February 26th 2007. In the last year we've had many visitors, from many locations, many of whom have visited again and again.

We may be a week early celebrating our birthday, but more importantly by the time you read this (or soon after), Backup Exec 12 should be available to download as trialware from http://www.symantec.com/backupexec/

Thanks to all those who have visited the site (especially those who have clicked on an ad!), and extra special thanks to those who have contributed.

Recent Backup Exec Developments

Since the last newsletter there haven't been any Hotfixes for any version of Backup Exec.

Instead we have had the start of information rolling out about Backup Exec 12. So far available we have the complete documentation set (http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/297324.htm), and the environment checker (32 bit, 64 bit), so those of you who are keen to get up and running with Backup Exec 12 can do as much pre-planning and testing as possible.

Recent Site Developments

The poll concerning your upgrade plans for Backup Exec 12 remains open. The poll can be found at the bottom of any page on the site.

Over the last year, traffic to the site has grown steadily, and we now get several hundred visits each day. The site layout remains fairly simple, and initially this was in order to avoid overwhelming the user. In the coming weeks this may change slightly, in order to give the user more power.

Hint Of The Month

If you want to find out who changed something on a Backup Exec server, there is an audit log available under the Tools menu
