Recent Backup Exec Developments

Since the last newsletter (less than four weeks ago), there have been another three Hotfixes for Backup Exec 11d. Hotfix 34 addresses several problems with Sharepoint and Exchange. Hotfix 31 addresses problems with the Desktop and Laptop Option. Hotfix 35 addresses a problem with Lotus Notes.

There still doesn't appear to have been any announcements about Backup Exec 12. Thankfully Symantec are dropping the "d" from the version, and reverting to plain old numbers. In terms of new features, the only information so far appears to be support for Enterprise Vault. Any new information will be added to http://www.backupexecfaq.com/articles/concepts/information-about-backup-exec-12.html as it becomes available.

Recent Site Developments

The data protection size poll has closed. The results can be seen at http://www.backupexecfaq.com/component/option,com_poll/Itemid,21/task,results/id,3/

It seems that there's a fair range of data sizes being protected by Backup Exec users, with 75% of respondents protecting between 100GB and 10TB of data.

The next poll is now online, and concerns your upgrade plans for Backup Exec 12. The poll can be found at the bottom of any page on the site.
