Recent Site Developments
The site now has polls. The first poll can be viewed from the menu bar, and you can place your vote from the bottom of any page on the site. At the moment I can tell from the webstats what browser people are using, where they are, how they got to the site, and so on. What I don't know is why people are coming to the site, what they like, what version of Backup Exec they use and so on. Over the coming weeks and months I hope to build a clearer picture by getting some poll responses. Why not cast your vote now?
Recent Backup Exec Developments
In the last newsletter I commented that Symantec had released:
Since then a slew of further hotfixes have been released, addressing issues with Exchange, CPS, IDR, CASO, the notorious every-tape-is-a-piece-of-cleaning-media problem, encryption, Sharepoint, and others. If you're not fully up-to-date with your Hotfixes, perhaps now's the time to catch up?
Symantec have now also changed their policy so that if you buy a boxed version of Backup Exec you now get a working license key in the box. After the dissatisfaction of the licensing system brought in around the same time as Backup Exec 11d, perhaps this is the best sign yet that Symantec are willing to respond to user criticism
