Dear ,

Thanks for signing up to the Backup Exec FAQ newsletter.

Recent Site Developments

There has been quite a gap since the last newsletter, mainly because I am in the process of moving house, and I've been battling with disaster recovery on Backup Exec 11d, which is not as straightforward as with Backup Exec 10d. Nevertheless, the number of visitors to the site remains fairly steady, so hopefully it is proving a useful resource.

Recent Backup Exec Developments

Since the last newsletter there have been some important Backup Exec updates (http://www.symantec.com/enterprise/support/downloads.jsp?pid=15047). These include:

These updates should reduce the amount of downloading and installing required should you need to reinstall. For 11d build 7170 the service pack includes Hotfix 14, which is intended to resolve issues with Microsoft Exchange, Granular Restore Technology and duplication jobs. Unfortunatley many people are finding that there are still problems, and it some cases it degrades performance significantly. At least it is recognised as an issue by Symantec (http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/290586.htm)
