Normally when you upgrade a Backup Exec installation, upgrades where the major version number does not change do not require a new license. Backup Exec 12.5 is an exception to this rule.

How do I get Backup Exec to transfer data across my SAN?

If you have a SAN (Storage Area Network), you may well have a significant amount of data. Backup Exec can only transfer backup data between servers over the LAN (Local Area Network), so how can you speed up this data transfer, and reduce the amount of traffic sent over the LAN?

In short, it doesn't.

Backup Exec System Recovery Option is effectively a feature-reduced version of Backup Exec System Recovery Server Edition. It is installed separately to Backup Exec, and administered separately.
