In versions of Backup Exec prior to 10d, the catdump utility allows you to dump the contents of the catalog files.

Catdump is not provided with Backup Exec, but is downloadable from the Symantec support site. (For Backup Exec 10.0, 9.0 and 9.1, 6, 7 and 8)
