Backup Exec and Storage Foundation

If you use both Backup Exec and Symantec Storage Foundation for Windows, you may find that after upgrades to Storage Foundation, you have problems with Backup Exec's Remote Agents not connecting.

Symptoms include the agent not responding, or being unable to connect to resources such as Exchange or SQL.

The fix is to redeploy the Backup Exec remote agent. It may also be a good idea to check your Storage Foundation upgrade procedure to check that remote agents work properly. It's better to find this out immediately, rather than find out that your backups stop working.
