If you backup Exchange to disk using the Granular Restore Technology option (Enable the restore of individual mail messages and folders), you will find your backup-to-disk folder filling up with .IMG files. Regardless of the media set rules you set for your backup, the files are not overwritten, and continue to accumulate until they fill the disk. |

If you get the error: "Final error: 0xe0000900 - The requested media is not listed in the media index and could not be mounted. To add the media's catalog information to the disk-based catalogs, run an inventory operation on the media and resubmit the Catalog operation." even though the media has been inventoried, fear not, there is usually a solution. |

On versions of Backup Exec from 7.3 up to 10d, ExecView is an optional component which allows you to monitor (but not administer) one or more Backup Exec servers. ExecView was discontinued for Backup Exec 11d. |

If you use the diagnostics for your tape drive, they will report that compression is turned off, and may even prompt you to change settings in your backup software. Don't worry, it's not as bad as it first seems. |

My Backup tape is 400GB, but I can only get 300GB on a tape. Why? Because the people who make tape drives are technical people, and the people who sell tape drives are marketing people. |
